Amado Freire, M.D.

Dr. Hofmann was born in Queens, NY, lived in Canada for a short period and returned to Long Island in early 1980. He attended schooling in Long Island and subsequently attended Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY studying and attaining a B.S. in Biology and Pre-Med. From there Dr. Hofmann attended Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, W.I. After spending two years in the Caribbean and two years in the United States in clinical training, Dr. Hofmann then entered internship at the Hospital of St. Raphael, in New Haven, CT, training in General Surgery. A change in direction led Dr. Hofmann to pursue a career in Medicine rather than in General Surgery. Dr. Hofmann then entered Internal Medicine training at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center at Memphis. Dr. Hofmann enjoyed Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine and completed training in Fellowship at UT Memphis. Dr. Hofmann then joined Memphis Lung Physicians in 2002. Dr. Hofmann joined Wesley Neurology in 2017. Dr. Hofmann has special interests in Sleep Disorders including Sleep Disordered Breathing, Hypoventilation Syndromes, Narcolepsy, care of patients with neuromuscular disorders and advanced positive airway pressure titrations. Dr. Hofmann is married with three children and enjoys interests in music, cycling, swimming, outdoors activities and family life.
